I guess there have been times in my life that I failed at something, and deep down I didn’t think I would succeed at it. It then turned out a self fulfilling prophesy!

Making the distinction between knowing when to give up because it won’t work and when you’ve simply not tried hard enough to succeed, is a true skill. Various Captains of Industry claim that they never failed at anything, they did whatever it was just long enough to get the learning point! If you haven’t given yourself chance to succeed, you cannot know that it wouldn’t have worked. People often give up on the verge of success.

I have wondered…there must also be a time when you are flogging a dead horse so to speak and giving up on that particular topic/project is just common sense. I’ve also heard the phrase no point throwing good money after bad…

I sound all defeatist but I am pretty optimistic by nature…I just wondered when you know you should stop.
